We are half way through the summer and although it may feel like the Autumn is just round the corner, let’s do not give up on summery outfits just yet!
We can wear so much when it is warm but what I have chosen for you to consider for the rest of Summer 2017, is the combo of a white tee and a skirt. As simple and unappealing it may sound, the Colombian born designer Johanna Ortiz took it to a totally different level bringing edginess, drama and fun while maintaining the all feminine shape.
The south american accents of ruffles omnipresent in Ortiz’ pieces are entwined with simplicity of a perfect white tee with a wider message to the world in a form of trendy and meaningful slogans. To make it more subtle, a large bow which is another of her favourite accents is used not only to cover the slogan but also to magically enlarge the top part and add volume; this is a super stylish solution for ladies with smaller bust or those who want to balance larger bottoms.
The florals, metallics and voluminous shapes continue as leading trends this year. Watch out for those when shopping during summer sales which are still on!
Apart from her fabulously feminine and fun pieces, what I really liked about Ortiz is her incorporating the aspects of her culture and origin in her design. I also admire her strong emphasis on involving in her work and supporting indigenous communities as well as women who are head of households. A fun fact is that Ortiz as a fashion ambassador for Colombia was invited to showcase her designs in the White House and in United Nations in New York!
