THE INVESTMENT PIECE
Long are gone the days of biker jackets worn on motorbikes only! Leather biker jacket is one of the wardrobe must haves for a modern, stylish woman. The styles range from “tougher” looking to more delicate and feminine ones so there is something for everyone. Considering it is a part of a chic capsule wardrobe, I am in favour of real leather jackets as opposed to the faux ones; once you invest in a great piece, you will wear it for years! Choose a nice, soft leather with golden or silver zips. It must feel like “you” so take time choosing a piece you will fall in love with instantly!
ALL YEAR ROUND ITEM
Typically you would think a leather jacket is for Spring/ early Autumn time, but I see it actually as an all year round item! It is true it is perfect for Spring as much as a trench coat; not too warm and not too thin for still slightly cooler days. For Summer it is just ideal for those warm evenings and nights ones, plus occasional not so hot days. Come Autumn and we are still in our leather jackets but with long sleeves underneath and preferably a warm shawl around our neck. This is not the end yet because when the real chill comes, we can still wear our beloved leather jackets either as an additional layer under our coats or we can use it almost like a blazer for an edgy day look or fun going out one. This is why you need to invest in a great quality jacket; so it can last years to come, all year rounds!
MAKE IT THE PERFECT FIT
As sizes differ across brand, I would definitely try on a leather jacket to make sure it fits well! Leather jacket should not hang on you but you should be able to zip it all the way up. Take time when trying it on to ensure you can move comfortably and, what is important, that you can wear at least a thin jumper underneath. Being able to wear a layer or two underneath is important if you want to use it all year round, as suggested. If possible, also check any reviews online on how the item is wearing off; some leather looks much better after a couple of years than other. Also, try to imagine if the style, colour and fit will go with most of the clothes you already own. I personally suggest black leather jacket as it is most versatile and you can add so many different accessories but you can also go for a brown or grey one. Again, it has to be your perfect version!
MY VENICE LOOK
I felt so lucky when I could actually still wear just my leather jacket in November when in Venice. To stroll the streets of this magical place, you need to inject some magic into your outfit too! I decided to go for suede over the knee boots, tulle midi dress popped under another knit dress, big shawl and, of, course the biker jacket; all navy except for the black leather piece. I was warm and comfy but also felt kind of special in the same time. (notice the mysterious and stylish woman creeping in on my picture!!)
